The work continues!
Sherryl A. Gordon Council 1 Executive Director |
New Jersey AFSCME members and leaders worked tirelessly during the Senatorial and Assembly elections this November. Although our members were angry with many legislative members that did not support collective bargaining this past June and abstained from endorsing any candidates at the AFL-CIO conference there were several targeted GOTV operations that AFSCME members worked long and tirelessly. We are pleased to see that the Democrats maintained their 24-16 control over the Senate and added a seat in the Assembly which gives the Democrats a 48-32 edge. |
AFSCME NJ Members - you were fantastic! To each of you who passed out leaflets and door hangers, or worked the phone banks, or took elderly or disabled voters to the polls, our entire Union truly appreciates your commitment, your energy and your willingness to make our Union’s political program the best in the New Jersey labor movement.
You really are the difference, and we definitely will continue to need your activism. There are still many tough days online slot maschinen ahead. Without a doubt, it is understood that elections do have consequences. We have heard from many of you, so we get that. We will continue to fight to improve public employee services and help more New Jersey families get back on their feet. We also recognize that we have an ongoing responsibility to protect our members’ jobs, income and benefits.
This is where you, the member, comes in. No longer can you count on the activism of someone else to save your job, your benefits. We will need to stand together – all of us. So whenever we call on you to attend rallies, or makes calls to lawmakers, or circulate petitions, just be there.
